Hole in the Rock
Memorial Day May 23rd - 25th

So we took off on Friday evening for Hole in the Rock and stayed in Blanding that night and hit the trail on Saturday.
Perry & Leila, Weylin & Jessica, and Terry & Terry met up with Ray & Dennis from Denver.
The weather left a little to be desired on this years trip. We had constant rain on our drive over on Friday, and on Saturday it started raining around noon and finally stopped about 5:00 when we reached our campsite.
As we were airing down at the trailhead, a couple of Jeeps, one towing a small utility truck, were coming out. They told us that the Lake Canyon road had washed out.  Last year we saw some of the washout and took the new bypass but they said this morning they watched the road disappear from the rain and flooding. So now we were forced to take the long way around. This bypass starts about two miles before the main trailhead on the highway. It's makes the trail about 15 miles farther, but time wise, it's very close to the same in getting to camp. It's a really pretty ride through the canyon and over a mesa to meet up with the original trail.
Sunday and Monday were great. Nice weather and good wheeling led to two pleasant nights at camp with a good fire and even some dancing. Yes dancing. Everyone had a great time and the only trouble was a busted power steering pump on Rays Jeep.  We just put it on Perry's trailer and hauled him into Moab where he got a new pump and all was well again.
As we were eating dinner in Moab, the rain returned. This time it meant business too. Knocked the power out to the whole town. Needless to say our trip up Hwy 128 was filled with magnificent waterfalls and spectacular views.
