We had a great day in Bangs Canyon. Perry & Leila, Jeff & Sami, Weylin & Jessica, Alex & Roxanne and Ed.  Bangs is rated a 4/7, depending on how difficult you want to make it. "The Playground" is the main place for obstacles. It's a big open area of slick rock with ledges of different sizes and degrees of difficulty to challenge your vehicle and your nerve. The rest of the trail is a series of rock steps and loose dirt. After traveling for about 4 miles on two track, you get to a section of private property. The gate was open and we proceeded on down to the Gunnison River. The trial follows the river just a short way and then climbs back to the top of the mesa with a couple of moderately difficult sections to crawl over. Then you reach the Billings Canyon trailhead. The main trail then heads west back to the pavement and for us, to Dos Hombres for a nice dinner and relaxation before we headed back home. Bangs Canyon is a fun trail with lots of scenery, great views of the Grand Valley, and just enough difficulty to keep you interested the whole way.
